Each summer Yadkin Valley winery, Raffaldini, releases a special Pino Vino that benefits local rescue dogs and shelters. This year marks the eighth release of this limited-edition wine and this year’s unveiling party is hosted on Saturday, Sept. 18 inside the Tuscan-style villa and tasting room.
As a tradition, a rescue pup is chosen and makes his or her debut at the winery’s release party. The winning rescue dog this year is named Hershey and will have his face pictured on the wine label.
"The enthusiasm and support for this competition demonstrates the love we all share for our rescue animals," said Raffaldini Vineyards owner and winemaker, Jay Raffaldini. "We hope this competition will continue to raise awareness of the need for and importance of animal rescue."
A chocolate Labrador Retriever from Charlotte, N.C., Hershey is a senior rescue dog living out his golden years with love and support from his owners. On Saturday, June 18, guests are invited to meet Hershey as well as taste and purchase bottles of Pino Vino VIII while supplies last. Hershey will be present for the unveiling ceremony at 1 p.m. and will be participating in a petting booth afterwards to help raise money for local animal shelters.
A portion of proceeds from sales will go to benefit local animal shelters. Pino Vino VIII is available by the bottle for $20.
