Best of the Blue Ridge 2021 Winners
Each year Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine present’s the Best of the Blue Ridge awards, and each year Patrick County comes home with several winners in the events category and more.
Stuart Spooktacular
Every Halloween, the Town of Stuart and surrounding areas looks forward to the greatest costumed event the town has ever seen: the Stuart Spooktacular! Activities line Main Street while the crowd of ghouls and goblins romp about to and fro. We have all surely missed the Stuart Spooktacular in 2020, but Patrick County is honored to see it awarded "Best Costumed Event" by Blue Ridge Outdoors this year.
Front Porch Fest Variety Show
One thing that made 2020 tolerable was the Front Porch Fest Variety Show. Of course, nothing can replace the real Front Porch Fest and its homegrown groovy fun, but we had a blast tuning in at home. We saw musical performances, demonstrations, comedy, yoga, cooking shows, and much more. We are happy to share that they have taken home the award for "Best Virtual Event," "Best Family-Friendly Festival," and was the runner up for "Best Music Festival Missed Most in 2020," and "Best Festival (Overall)" by Blue Ridge Outdoors this year.
Floydfest
Floydfest, a funky mountain top music and arts festival right off the Blue Ridge Parkway was postponed last year, but we are looking forward to seeing the Floydfest Tribe again this year. They have once again taken home the award for "Best Music Festival (Overall)’" as well as "Best Music Festival Missed Most in 2020" and was runner-up in "Best Family-Friendly Festival" and "Rowdiest Festival" by Blue Ridge Outdoors.
Virginia Faery Festival
For a truly magical festival experience, you need to check out the Virginia Faery Festival at beautiful Spirithave Farm in Stuart, VA. Music, art, dancing, workshops, food, and much more surround this sparkling weekend of fairies, Vikings, goblins, sprites, and all other manner of magical creatures. The Virginia Faery Festival came in as a runner up in "Weirdest Festival" by Blue Ridge Outdoors this year!
Lover’s Leap Scenic Overlook
Known not only for its stunning expansive views of the valley below, Lover’s Leap Scenic Overlook in Meadows of Dan hold’s with it a local legend of love and tragedy. Lover’s Leap placed as a runner up for "Best Overlook" by Blue Ridge Outdoors this year.
