Looking for last-minute plans to enjoy Independence Day? Look no further than SoBo Brew Fest 5K and Block Party presented by Destination Downtown South Boston and Halifax County Tourism, happening this Sunday, July 4th! Celebrate the birth of our nation in Downtown South Boston with live music, a 5K, fresh barbeque, fireworks, and plenty of craft brews.
The block party will be held on Factory Street, with South Boston’s newest attraction, Factory Street Brewing Company, serving as the festival’s backdrop. The celebration will kick off at 5 p.m. when the gates open and the 5K begins. Over 50 runners have already registered for the 5K. The route will begin at the block party, winding along Railroad Avenue, Edmunds Street, North Main, Wilkerson, Hodges, and Marshall, ending at Factory and Seymour. Cheer on runners from the block party or anywhere along the route!
Throughout the event, attendees can purchase craft beer from one of the beer tents on the street. Factory Street Brewing Company will have four drafts to choose from, with their full menu available within the brewery. Also in attendance is Three Roads Brewing Company, out of Farmville, Virginia, serving four craft beers. To complete your experience, Smok’n Butts will be selling and serving up mouth-watering food. Enjoy fresh, savory barbeque, ribs, chicken, and sides without the hassle of firing up your grill. Is there anything more American than celebrating the Fourth of July with a beer in one hand and barbeque in the other?
Music will begin at 6 p.m., featuring local party band 6th N Main, in their first performance of 2021. With melodic harmonies, swinging percussion, rockin’ bass, a jammin’ guitar, and sultry horns, 6th N Main will be bringing beach music, classics, and top hits to life. The stage will be on Factory Street, with the brewery serving as the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities. Bring your dancing shoes and lawn chairs then groove the evening away as the sun sets behind the brewery. 6th N Main will play into the evening, leading up to fireworks at 9:30 p.m. With the fireworks launching just across the street, Brew Fest will be the closest viewers can get to the excitement!
A huge thank you to our local sponsors, Benchmark Community Bank, Fairfield by Marriott, J.E. Burton Construction, American National Bank, and WHLF. We’d also like to recognize Benton-Thomas, Reaves Lawn & Garden, Supply Line Discounts, and Sentara for their support.
