December is a time to celebrate the Christmas Season – and in Granville County, it’s also a time to gather with family and friends. The following are just some of the events we will be hosting this Christmas Season!!
Oxford (Dec. 3) – The annual Lighting of the Greens & Christmas Parade is coming up on December 3rd in Downtown Oxford!! Starting at 4:00 pm there will be activities and vendors on Main Street. Followed by some performers, an introduction by Mayor Sergent, and the Lighting of the Greens at 6:30 pm. The Parade will begin at 7:00 pm.
This parade includes floats, dancers, fire trucks and, of course, Santa. The parade kicks-off at 7:00 from Williamsboro Street and then heads down towards Hillsboro Street. Are you interested in being a vendor for Lighting of the Greens? Then fill out the application below!

Butner (Dec 3 – 4) – Bring the kids with their letters to Santa and join us for a weekend of fun in Butner. On Friday, December 3rd join the community for the Christmas in the Park celebration. The evening will highlight local talent, and will also include Christmas songs and the lighting of the tree. Enjoy performances by Vickie and Elaine Yates, Melissa’s School of Dance, Butner Presbyterian Church – Pre-K and Santa – reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas in the beautifully decorated Gazebo Park located on Central Avenue in Butner. Then on Saturday, December 4th, the Butner Community Association is so happy to be hosting the annual Butner Christmas Parade. The parade will have lots of cars, floats of local businesses, churches, non-profits, numerous fire trucks, local high school marching bands and of course, Mrs. Claus and Santa. Parade begins at 2:00 pm and goes down Central Avenue in Butner. The cost to participate is $10 per entry. Non-profit groups (churches, schools, etc.) have no entry fee. Participants line up on West G Street.

Creedmoor (Dec 3 – 4) — The annual Tree Lighting takes place at 108 E. Wilton Avenue at 7 pm on the 3rd. Students and choirs from surrounding schools sing carols, and Santa makes an appearance to begin preparing his list for Christmas and to take pictures with the children. This is a free event and all residents are invited to attend.
The Creedmoor Christmas Parade will be held on Main Street at 11:00 am on the 4th. Bring the family and come enjoy the beautiful downtown and fellowship with neighbors.

Grassy Creek (Dec. 11) – This small community located in northern part of Granville County always hosts one of the most unique and cherished events each year. The Christmas Parade is guaranteed to be a special event for the whole family. The parade begins at 2:00
If you would like to participate, the parade lines up on the Charlie Winston Road Other than dignitaries, the line up is first come first serve, so the earlier you line up the closer you are to the front.
To watch the parade, the best parking is at Grassy Creek Baptist Church or on the shoulder of the road along the route (between the church and Charlie Winston Road on Grassy Creek-Virgiilna Road)

Dec. 5 – Cocoa with Santa and Vendor Show – The Barn at Vino in Stem, NC – 1pm to 4 pm
Join the wonderful folks at the Barn at Vino for some holiday excitement! Each child will get to decorate Christmas cookies, make an ornament, enjoy hot cocoa, write a letter to Santa. K.G. Photography will be there to capture the perfect pictures of your family with Santa & Mrs. Claus! (Digital images included in price of admission).
Santa arrives by 1:30 so tickets will be sold in 30-minute blocks. Otherwise you are welcome to come anytime from 1-4 pm, but your photo timeslot is based on your tickets. They will also have some of their farm animals decked out in their holiday best!
Contactless ticket purchases are available through Eventbrite. Tickets are $20.00/individual child. If you have more than one child, additional children are $5 per child. Tickets will be sold at the door, unless they sell out online! (This happened last year so don’t wait to purchase your tickets). This year they will also have a vendor fair! There is no charge to come and shop the vendor fair! Vendors can purchase their spots using the Eventbrite ticket link as well!

Dec. 11 – Carleee Farm Market Place – Oxford – Come out and support of local vendors selling Christmas items, plus see Sana and Elves.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 11th. The Carleee Farm Market Place in Oxford will take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Come out and support of local vendors selling Christmas items – they expect over 35 vendors to take part – selling a variety of goods. Santa & The Elves will be there, so come camera ready!!! Also bring a toy to give to charity as Carlee Farms will again be hosting a Toy Drive. Food Plates will be available! And there will be a raffle & silent auction. Dec. 11 – Orpheum Holiday Gala – Oxford – Black-tie event supporting the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford!
The Orpheum at Oxford is excited to host their first Orpheum Holiday Gala! This is going to be a great night to support a great cause. This is a black-tie event so ladies find your fancy dresses and men pull out those suits/tux’s! They will have heavy passed hors d’oeuvres, live music, and will have one of North Carolina’s top mixologists coming to make craft cocktails!
Tickets are $75 per person ($150/couple). Tickets can be purchased at The Hub on Main. Included in your ticket price will be 2 drink tickets! There will also be a silent auction set up for people to bid on some amazing items. All proceeds from this event will go to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford! This event is 21+. On November 28th, the Oxford Arts Center will hold "Cookie Decorating for Kiddos" – come join us for a cookie class for your kiddos while you enjoy beer or wine upstairs at The Hub! They will follow that with "Cookie Decorating With Emily Freeman Of Sugar On Top Baked Goods" on December 4th. The on the 11th, they will hold "Crafts + Cupcakes Series–Gingerbread Houses". This kids oriented class will provide each child with a pre put together gingerbread house, along with all the fixings + toppings needed to make it amazin.
