A new lodging is coming to downtown Washington. The Little Inn at Washington will be opening in June right on West Main Street in the heart of the Harbor District.
The boutique inn will feature ten rooms, five upstairs and five down, and will all have king-sized beds and kitchenettes. Owner Felicia Burroughs Huggins says that the Inn will be pet-friendly, and some of the rooms will be adjoining, perfect for extended family, wedding parties, even corporate groups and individuals in town in business. "The two existing AirBnB properties that I own, [the Apartments on Main], will roll over and become part of the Inn. We are naming all of the rooms after creeks on the Pamlico River. We will offer the Pamlico Room, the Blounts Creek Room, and so on."
Huggins says she is also opening a coffee shop in conjunction with the Inn, so a continental breakfast will be offered with all the rooms. "We want it to be very nostalgic. We are bringing back all things great of old-time Washington. We’ll be bringing back the fresh squeezed orangeades and limeades. I want to bring back Anne’s apricot tea (A throwback to the former Meeting Place Cafe owned by Anne Martin.) I want to have lemon poppyseed muffins and pay homage to her."
She says they will have a soda fountain with cherry Cokes and vanilla Cokes. They’ll also offer teas and have tea parties. Huggins says that she has been doing hair at her salon for thirty-five years and has heard people reminisce about such treats and wants to bring those Washington memories back.
"We’ll have a coffee bar where people can sit, and we will encourage them to hang out, read a book, play a game of checkers.
The booking system for the Inn is pretty much hands-free; guests can self check-in and self check-out."
Two of the rooms will have a Main Street view. "We are designing it with a really classic Charleston style, with long piazzas and beautiful wrought iron railings, done with antiques and repurposed furniture.
We do have a private parking lot, so we have private, reserved parking for the Inn, with an entrance right to the rooms."
With great restaurants, breweries, shops, and the river merely steps away, The Little Inn at Washington is sure to be a visitor’s idyllic home away from home.
The Little Inn at Washington is slated to open in June and is located at 214 West Main Street.
