Summer Solstice Event

June 14, 2024

A relaxing summer event is coming to Washington! On June 23rd, Griffin’s Farm Market will host ‘Summer Solstice,’ a coffee, flower arranging, yoga event. Organizer Christina Zigglioto says the event is a collaborative effort. "I have teamed up with Griffin’s, Sun Moon & Bloom, and Perfect Perks & Micki’s Munchies for this venture. They’re just my favorite places to go and they bring me joy so I want to share them with others. A cup of coffee from Perfect Perks in the morning, fresh cut flowers from Sun, Moon & Bloom, and fresh, local fruits & veggies from Griffin’s Farm. These things are therapeutic."

Then there’s the yoga.

Ziggliotto has been practicing and leading yoga classes since she was a kid. The child of a Wyoming cowgirl mother and an Italian father, she jokes that she’s not even sure how she got into yoga as a youth. "My mom would go with me [to yoga], so it’s very special to me. It taught me how to fall asleep faster at night. When you’re a kid and your mind is whizzing, how do you chill out and fall asleep? It helps me today in stressful situations. It reduces tension; it helps me move my body more."

When Ziggliotto started spending time in Washington, she thought it was a great place to be at peace and practice yoga, so she decided to get her yoga instruction certification. She also has a love for helping people with special needs and volunteers with that quite a bit. She says people of all abilities can do yoga. "It doesn’t have to be this fancy, extravagant thing or big motion. ANYONE can do it."

Ziggliotto says that as therapeutic as yoga is, so are flowers. And that wonderful cup of coffee. So it was a natural fit for her to team up with the event partners for a soul-enriching experience that combines ‘joy, therapy, and community.’

"We intentionally kept the cost as low as we could so it’s more accessible. We’re emphasizing that it doesn’t matter your age or physical ability, anyone can do it. We’ve had people sign up that have never done yoga before, and that’s ok. We are going to have fun and enjoy it.. That’s the goal."

Ziggliotto says that Washington feels like a second home for her. She loves the community here. She has made many friends here, including the business owners that she’s teaming up with. She also points out that all of them are women-owned businesses. "They are like sunshine when you are around them. They are special, and they really care. To have all these local businesses coming together to do this and to keep the cost low is phenomenal. This community is very special to me. This town has heart."
