Are you looking for a weekend full of family fun and exciting entertainment? Then you need to check out the 42nd Annual Washington Summer Festival on June 13th and 14th.
This year the festival has added some elements that are sure to delight kids and adults of all ages. Event organizer Robin McKeithan says the festival kicks off on Friday afternoon with amusements, rides, vendors, and food trucks galore.
At 5pm, The Vine Connection will hold a gospel concert on the Chamber of Commerce deck.
The Crab Feast returns this year at 6pm with all you can eat blue crabs, shrimp, andouille sausage, and corn from Washington Crab. Brews will be on hand from Two Rivers Alehouse. McKeithan says The Crab Feast is a ticketed event; tickets can be purchased at https://tinyurl.com/y694yu9h.
Friday evening at 7pm, The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will play at Festival Park. "The Embers are always a great show; it’s one of the most popular elements of the festival," McKeithan says. "But the festival really has something for EVERYONE." After The Embers performance, stay for the fireworks and the Bandit Flight Team flyover on the waterfront.
On Saturday, try your hand at cornhole in a tournament at Festival Park. Registration at 9am; tournament starts at 10:30am. Or call Jerry Sneed for more information at 252-414-5521.

McKeithan says another fun addition this year is Lanky Lou, a strolling stilt walking performance, that will be out and about to entertain the kids and grown-ups alike. "Also, Iconic Marine will have a boat show in the parking lot across from Festival Park. So that is new this year as well."
At 12noon, Caleb and Madison Petty will perform on the People’s Pier in front of the Chamber.
Solina Dance will have an adult salsa workshop in the gazebo at 1pm.
Mariachi Charros De Mexico will be playing at 1 on the Chamber deck.
All you can ride amusements on Saturday are from 1-4pm, and armbands are only $25.
