Original Finds: Copper Boxes

August 16, 2021

Past the art and gift-filled storefront at Lemonade Art Gallery lies a creative world where art is brought to life. Four working artists keep their studios here and don’t mind if you wander through to take a peek as their latest creations are brought to life.

Among them is metal and mixed media artist Jim Adams. At Lemonade, he forges copper and other metals with wood and found objects to create captivating sculptures. Watch him work and make the materials yield under his skilled hands. A bend here and snap there, a thoughtful fusing of one raw part to another and a vision is now tangible in his one-of-a-kind pieces. Mixed media wall sculptures, forged steel necklaces, smooth carved wood shaped to his imagination, or a copper box (pictured above) that may one day be part of a larger sculpture.

Pop in and take a look. You never know what you’ll find at Lemonade Art Gallery and its working studios.

MORE ABOUT:
Lemonade Art Gallery
201 W Main St, Washington, NC 27889

Making lemons into lemonade is the specialty at Lemonade Art Gallery. The five artist-owners of Lemonade were inspired to open their own space after a gallery hosting them closed unexpectedly. Now, they display and sell works by more than 22 artists. Photography, paintings, hand blown glass, and woodworks are just a few of the mediums you’ll find in this gallery and gift shop. The artists also teach classes and workshops in the rear of the gallery. Now that goes down sweet.
