Is your favorite meal the next one?

August 15, 2021

Meals and views are the norm in Patrick County. And you don’t have to search very hard to find tasty plates that will make you lose track of time and focus on flavor. Read on for a few of our favorite top tastes that are sure to be yours, too.

Pancakes at Mabry Mill Restaurant
266 Mabry Mill Rd. SE Blue Ridge Parkway, Mile Post 176
Meadows of Dan, VA

Mabry Mill’s buckwheat pancakes are famous for a reason. Taste for yourself–along with egg plates with a country ham or biscuits smothered in sausage gravy–when you make this historic mill your breakfast destination. Originally built in 1910, the water-powered grist mill, sawmill, and nearby blacksmith shop provide you with a view of pioneer life along the Parkway. Self-guided tours include a sorghum mill, soap making kettle, and an "old time" whiskey still. Afterwards, stop by the Store and pick up a bag of cornmeal and buckwheat flour to take as a gift. We won’t tell if you keep it.

Craft Cocktails Pickle & Ash
21559 Jeb Stuart Highway
Stuart, VA 24171

Inventive, flavorful craft cocktails await at Pickle & Ash. Try the charred old fashioned or smoked pineapple and jalapeno mezcal margarita. Or order up a butterfly bouquet which artfully combines gin, lemon juice, lavender simple syrup and butterflower pa flower tea with an elderflower tonic. It’s so pretty, you may have to pause and snap a photo before taking that first simp. These are just a few of the creative spirits you’ll find at Pickle & Ash. One part bar, one part restaurant, one part market, Pickle & Ash works with local providers and showcases regional art and music. So sit back with a good drink and enjoy the sounds of bluegrass where bluegrass was invented. We’re pretty sure one or both will keep your spirits high.

Pig Candy at 19th Pub
2000 Busted Rock Rd
Meadows of Dan, VA

Munch on Pig Candy (aka thick cut bacon coated with maple syrup and cayenne) as you take in the views from the outdoor patio. Located in the Primland Resort, the 19th Pub offers up pretty scenery, camaraderie, and some damn fine food. We suggest you try the tuna tacos as your main event, though you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Daily Happy Hour features select moonshine cocktails, which harken back to the region’s rich bootlegging history.
