We’re excited to announce that our new website went live! From your desktop or your mobile device, the updated site will provide an elevated experience. We have revamped the site and made improvements to the content, which now includes imagery, an integrated directory for dining, lodging, shopping, and attractions, and a more compelling way to tell our story.
We started this project four months ago, knowing that we wanted a site that was engaging for our visitors. Ease of use and intuitive site navigation were a must. It was important that new and repeat visitors could get where they needed to go with only a few clicks. We wanted to create a site that would inspire, welcome, and give visitors a better understanding of Halifax County and everything that we have to offer.
We want you to discover what makes your heart race in Halifax County. The logo and "What Makes Your Heart Race" tagline pays homage to our rich racing history but also is lends space for the arts, agritourism, blueways, food, history, etc. You can find something here that makes your heart race.
When you land on the homepage, you’ll be greeted with big vibrant images linking to more information about the place or event. Our calendar and "Things to Do" will be updated regularly to provide a robust experience. Keep scrolling for itinerary ideas. Local Stories is where you’ll find our blogs, providing first-hand knowledge and experience as we help you explore. You can also find a travel guide that can be downloaded. Our Restaurant Week and Brew Fest sites have been rolled into this new site, and information about those tourism-sponsored events can be found under the "Local Favorites" tab. Download the new travel guide or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about the happenings in HalifaxVa.
Go ahead and explore the site. We hope that you like the changes and enjoy learning more about our wonderful community and all that we have to offer and find what makes your heart race.
I’d be remiss if I did not mention the talented people who helped me pull this off. Grateful to you, Darrell, for your PATIENCE, insight, and creativity. Our intern Ben Owen is phenomenal! Thank you for the late nights, crazy ideas, patience for the changes in plans, research, writing, and editing. Thank you to Denise Hudson for your always insightful and valuable feedback and ideas and a keen eye. Thank you, Linda Shepperd, for building the foundation and making this one of your last projects before retirement. Thank you to the two ladies who are the smiling, and knowledgeable faces of the Visitor Center – Carole Woodward and Gwynn Snead — your support, research, and editing were invaluable as we revamped our site.
Warmly,
