Celebrate Veterans Day November 11, 2016 at Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park

Forsyth County and the War Memorial Foundation are proud to announce this year’s Veterans Day ceremony at the Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park. The event will begin at 11AM on Friday, November 11th and feature decorated Army veteran Lieutenant General Walter F. Ulmer, former CEO of the Center for Creative Leadership. The ceremony will include color guards, special music, the laying of the wreath, taps and other patriotic activities. Both the ceremony and parking are free and open to the public. Lawn chairs are encouraged.

The Carolina Field of Honor is the largest memorial to honor veterans on the East Coast outside of Washington D.C. Opened in 2014 and constructed by the War Memorial Foundation Board, the memorial includes a 57-foot Granite Obelisk; flags representing the United States, North Carolina, POW, and service branches; 5 large, granite monuments representing the 5 branches of the military; a 2-tier water feature; the Meandering Walkway with educational sign posts; the Remembrance Walkway featuring personalized bricks; the Historical Flag Walk; and handicap parking and drop-off. Over 2,500 veterans are already enshrined at the monument.
