It’s NC Beer Month in Winston-Salem! Winston-Salem knows beer. In fact, you could even say it’s part of our historic DNA. After all, we are the historic birthplace of North Carolina’s first microbrewery (Single Brother Brewery in historic Salem; late 1800’s).
Winston-Salem is also the site of the state’s first pour-your-own craft beer wall and home to Foothills Brewing.
Foothills Brewing certainly spearheaded the most recent craft beer movement in Winston-Salem and continues to lead the way as our booming beer scene continues to grow. If the name Foothills rings a bell, it may be because of their highly acclaimed Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout which is released just once a year in February, selling out within days. You won’t find it during Beer Month but you will find an incredibly in-depth beer school every first Saturday of the month and one of North Carolina’s top-selling craft beers, Jade IPA. Order a flight and get more than a taste of their many seasonal brews to whet your palate.
Foothills NC Beer Month Events:
Saturday Beer School
Saturday, First Saturday of each month; 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $15 / person*
Do you claim to be the beer expert amongst all your friends? Such a title requires more than having a taste of every brew in existence, though that would be impressive nonetheless. The brewmasters at Foothills Brewing provide the chance to really be crowned "King of the Hops." Spend a Saturday afternoon learning the subtle nuances to craft beer brewing and tour their impressive brewery. As a final exam to the two-hour course, participants must complete the "daunting" task of sampling several of the Foothills’ craft brews. We agree with the folks over at Foothills, beer school is "the easiest "A" you’ll ever get."
Please arrange for responsible transportation from the pub due to the amount of beer being consumed.
RSVP in advance online here or call the pub for more details at 336.777.3348.
