Each year the holidays in Winston-Salem are fervently lit with more than a million twinkling lights at the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park. The largest holiday light display in the entire Southeast, the festival kicks off its 24th season November 22 and runs nightly through January 3. Visitors ride along in their car surrounded by holiday beauty and can listen to local radio station 99.5 for holiday tunes, or crack the windows and hear the interactive musical displays playing original compositions from the UNC School of the Arts Music Technology students. Over 80 displays are lit along nearly four miles of country road. Enhance your festival experience with a horse-drawn carriage or classic hayride for you and a loved one.
The Holiday Gift Village, located halfway through the light show in the red barn, features locally crafted art, marshmallows for roasting and and visits from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Crafts available in the village include holiday crafts, wood workings, and other fine items made by over 70 local vendors — making the Holiday Gift Village a great stop to mark off your shopping list. Photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus are available Sunday-Thursday from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. – close.
